Hi Lucine,

Thanks for your post! Have you read the book 'Breakthrough: 8 Steps to Wellness' by Suzanne Somers? One of the antiaging doctors, Dr. Jonathan Wright talks about hair loss in women. This is what he says (page 29):

"Women in 20s-30s - what's often happening is often too little stomach acid and pepsin. Because of that protein isn't digested. And hair is made of protein.

Women in their 40s who are losing hair most often it is a combo of low stomach acid, low thyroid, and sex hormone loss - mainly estrogen and progesterone. We replace missing hormones with bioidentical estrogen, progesterone and thyroid. We also replace the missing hydrochloric acid. Sometimes DHEA is the missing element."

You can read more in the book. You might want to go to an anti-aging doctor and have them do tests on you to find out what the issue is.

I hope this helps!

Take care,

Kim

HI Kim,

I was wondering what advice do you have for hair loss and hair thinning... I want to the doctor and all they did was take blood and told me I am fine, I should stop thinking about it and go home. On top of it all I have dandruff so I can only use dandruff shampoos

Hope you can help

Hi Shelley, I can't give medical advice on the website but I can point you in the right direction! It sounds like his hormones are not balanced (most teen hormones aren't). You may want to see a preventive health doctor (find one here http://www.lef.org/Health-Wellness/InnovativeDoctors/) who could help your son or you could also visit a naturopath. I do know that probiotics may help some people with acne, but do talk to a professional. Take care, Kim

Hi Judy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to send a message. I can't give you any medical advice via my blog, but I can give you some general direction of what you could do.

First, I highly recommend that you read 'Breakthrough; 8 Steps to Wellness' by Suzanne Somers. She interviews many preventive health/anti-aging doctors in it and they talk in depth about hormones and bioidentical hormone (NOT synthetic) replacement. After reading the book, I ran out and found my own preventive health doctor who does bioidentical hormone replacement, and much more. I know that you will have a good idea of what might help you after reading this book! :o)

My other suggestion is that you go to a preventive doctor and have all your hormones tested. Here is a link where you can search for doctors in your area: <a href="http://www.lef.org/Health-Wellness/InnovativeDoctors/" "target=blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.lef.org/Health-Wellness/InnovativeDoctors/</a>

I hope this helps!

Take care, Kim

Hi Kim,
I have been on antidressants (zoloft)since my son was born 19years ago! I have now gone through menopause at 48 and my doctor has put me on prempro (I know about the horses and it makes me sick thinking about it) My hormones for as long as I can remember have been like a rollar coaster, and the prempro is helping.
I want off both of them and go a more natural route. I am healthy, eat well , but could exercise more. BMI is in the normal range.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Hi Donna, You may also want to look into using an Infrared Sauna. They are great for muscle pain, arthritis etc. I am using one for my knee surgery rehab and it really helps. Many other benefits too! You will want to start out with just 10 mins or so and work up the time from there. My yoga studio has one so I use theirs. Eventually, I'd like to have one in my home. You can buy small ones that can fit in a closet! Kim
